FireSmart Canada

Interagency Cooperation

Working towards a FireSmart community relies on strong partnerships.

Interagency cooperation includes activities such as:

  • Developing a FireSmart committee
  • Coordinating reviews of new developments
  • Committing to mutual-aid fire control agreements

When wildfire threatens a community, response efforts can be complex and involve multiple agencies. Working together before a wildfire strikes is important to ensure a coordinated response.

If you are a fire fighter you can learn more about how to help your community become FireSmart.

How to become FireSmart:

I am committed to Put into action the FireSmart community recognition program and in addition, develop then implement a partially funded cooperative fuel reduction program between community members and local government..
